Wing Foiling Essentials
The Wing, the foil and the foil board.
Whether you're an accomplished winger or just getting started in this exciting sport, there are 3 main components to your setup:
The Wing
An inflatable, wing that you hold in your hands to capture the wind and propel yourself across the water!
They range in size from approximately 2m (sizes are in square metres) up to 7 or even 8m.
The Foil / Hydrofoil
A combination of a mast, fuselage, front wing and rear wing constitutes a foil. When mounted underneath the board, it generates lift and raises the board above the water... allowing you to "fly" above the water.
The Foil Board
A board that has a track to attach the foil to the bottom of the board. Beginners generally start with a board approximately 20 to 40 liters larger than their weight in kilograms. As you progress, you may upgrade to a smaller board.
